One thing to know in Pennsylvania is the Government Structure and history of the area in which you choose to reside. Aside from the state government there are counties, municipalites, school districts, and authorities.  The state is divided into 67 counties. Each county containes local municipalities such as townships, cities, boroughs, and towns (one in the state).  Usually postal cities have little to do with the official municipality.  Then there are school districts.  Everyone is apart of a County, Municipality, and School District.  There are also diffrenent "authorities" but they don't matter as much in the sense of government.  Each entity is different and is governed differently depending upon what class they are (population) and if they have a Home Rule Charter.

The region is certainly not short on history and understanding government may be confusing.  After you choose a place to live, I will help you to know what there is to know about that place you choose to make home.
